New Bill in the House of Commons could have a big impact on First Nations communities
If passed, a new bill could force First Nation chiefs and councillors to disclose how band funds are used. Peter Penashue tabled it in the House of Commons last week. Band members in Sheshatshiu complain their current Chief and Council lack financial accountability. They’ve called an election to try and get new leaders.
