Happy Valley Goose Bay man - Governor General's Medal of Bravery

medal of bravery.jpg Medal of Bravery On August 15, 2009, a little girl swimming in Red Indian Lake near Buchans nearly drowned. Several people helped save her life, putting themselves in jeopardy to do so. Tina Moores of Grand Falls-Windsor died in the rescue attempt. Three other people, including her sister Sharon Sparkes, and Dennis and Brian Fowlow survived. They will be travelling to Ottawa tomorrow to receive the Governor General’s medal of bravery for their efforts. Originally from Buchans, Brian Fowlow now lives in Happy Valley Goose Bay. He’s never spoken about the rescue, until now, with Colleen Connors.
