Fishers May Trade Nets for Hooks

Earlier in the week on Labrador Morning, provincial fisheries minister Clyde Jackman told us about some research to determine the feasibility of harvesting Turbot by hook and line. Trawling and gillnets have been banned in some fishing areas. And longlining may be an alternative for turbot fishing on the South coast of Labrador and some of the Labrador Coast. Chester Davis is the L’Anse au Loup fish harvester who is testing this method for government. He joins us on the phone to share his early findings
