Habitat for humanity in Lab West
If you drive down Booth Avenue in Labrador City you’ll see a duplex under construction. In just a few weeks, two families will move in to their very own homes. This is the first time Habitat for Humanity in this province has built homes outside the Avalon Peninsula. Through Habitat, families who are having a difficult time getting a mortgage can pay for their homes interest free. The catch is they also have to spend five hundred hours of volunteer time with the group. Reporter Mike Power dropped by the build site to see how things were progressing, and to meet with some of the people involved in the project.
