MUN Scholarships Encourage Aboriginal Self-Identification
Memorial University is trying to reach out to the province’s Aboriginal community. Earlier this year, it appointed a special advisor for aboriginal affairs and last week, it announced some new scholarships for aboriginal students starting this fall. While that maybe be good news for many students in this part of the province, there is one main criteria if they want to cash in. They have to self-identify as an aboriginal within the application - a key step, that apparently, a lot of people miss. Tom Brophy is director of Student Success at Memorial University.
