Habitat for Humanity in Labrador City

cabot habitat lab west.jpg Labrador West is in the middle of an economic boom these days. That means the price of renting or buying a home has skyrocketed. Apartments that were five hundred dollars a month a few years ago, can easily go for twelve hundred. And housing prices have almost tripled in five years. For single parents like 22- year-old Victoria Humby, owning a home was next to impossible, until she heard about “Habitat for Humanity.” The organization is about to build two homes in Labrador west. One will be for Victoria Humby. Reporter Mike Power met up with her at a Labrador City playground, where she enjoyed a summer day with her daughter Ella Blue and spoke about what this means to her.
