"Cancer Patient Navigators"
Cancer diagnosis and treatment can be very frightening and confusing for patients and their families. But soon they’ll have some extra guidance and comfort. Special nurses called, “Cancer Patient Navigators” will be located in several communities across the province. The Provincial Government and Cancer Care Program developed the positions to offer support every step of the way. Matthew Piercey is the Executive Director of the Newfoundland and Labrador Division of the Canadian Cancer Society. He joins Cindy Wall from St. John’s, to talk about the impact these nurses will have.
