Lower Churchill Environmental Hearings set to start

clarice blake rudkowski.jpg Clarice-Blake Rudkowski NunatuKavut has filed a court application for an injunction to stop the Lower Churchill Environmental hearings ..... So far President Chris Montague isn't talking. He's supposed to hold a news conference later today to explain his groups case. But at least one group already says it supports the move to stop the proceedings. The Grand River Keeper is an environmental group that has some serious concerns about the plan to dam the Lower Churchill. Reporter Peter Cowan talked to member Clarice Blake Rudkowski:

In the meantime, as the court process plays out .....the panel that is reviewing the project says the meetings will start tomorrow evening in Happy Valley Goose Bay as planned.....they are scheduled to run until the middle of April. The panel will first hear from the proponent, Nalcor.....then over the course of the hearings many individuals and groups are registered to speak. The panel will CEAA Banner.pnghear from environmental and aboriginal groups. It will hold videoconference meetings in Nain, Rigolet and Cartwright...and in travel to North West River, Sheshatshit, Mud Lake, St Johns and Sept Isles.
