Remembering the late Gerald Dyson
Gerald & Lockie Dyson
There’s going to be an empty seat at the Happy Valley Goose Bay Town council meetings from now on.
And it won’t be at the council table. This one will be in the gallery. It belonged, and will probably always belong to the late Gerald Dyson Sr.
Sadly he passed away on Sunday.
His funeral takes place this afternoon at the Pentecostal Church at 2 oclock.
Leo Abbass is the mayor of Happy Valley Goose Bay and he came by our studio to remember Mr Dyson and his contribution to the community
Also..a look back at what can be ddescribed Gerald’s passion..the water supply
A few years ago Gerald’s Grand daughter Tara McLean started work here at CBC and she loved telling us the story of how her grandfather courted his wife to be, Lockie, who sadly passed away just a few weeks ago.
Their relationship started back during the Mud Lake Fair when the single women made baskets for auction……and the single men bid on the basket. The winner got the basket and, if the young woman was so inclined, she also came along to share the picnic.
That’s how it all started with Gerald and Lockie.
Tara chatted with her Grandpa two years ago as he was getting things ready for a trip to Mud Lake for the annual fair
