Labrador Woman fighting for EI benefits to look after gravely ill children
A Happy Valley Goose Bay woman is fighting for benefits for parents who have to leave work to care for a sick child. Right now EI compassionate care benefits are only available for six weeks and only for caregivers of someone who is terminally ill. Cathy Peyton left her job when her son John was diagnosed with cancer in 2008. She says there was no compensation program available. She started a campaign on You Tube to draw attention to the issue.
