Boy in Striped Pyjamas:

Bruno is a 10 yr old boy with a big imagination but when his father gets a promotion as an army officer to a concentration in WW2, everything changes. Bruno moves to “Out With” with his Mother, Father and Sister, Gretel,. Bruno, in his new room sees people young to old in striped pyjamas. One day he finds a fence and decides to follow it, then he meets a boy named Shemal and they become friends. One day Shemal turned up in Bruno’s house polishing glasses and Bruno told a huge lie getting Shemal in trouble. Then Shemal doesn’t show up for 16 days but they regain their friendship. A few weeks later Shemal’s father goes missing and Bruno takes a pair of pyjamas, puts them on and climbs under the fence. And no-one ever saw him again. So I reckoned that this book is not appropriate for some one under the age of 10, because it is very sad.

cool

Caitlin, this is an exceptional and in depth review. You ave obviouslyt studies the book and its context well, Good Job!!!

how sad

Ya I know how sad

I've only seen the movie, but I think it's similar to the book (?). I loved it, but I will never watch it again. The end was terrifying and I don't think I could watch it again.
By the way, I think it would be a great book for ten year olds. It holds a message that Yu-gi-o or Ben 10 or any other tween cartoon could never have. It's very inspiring and makes you think. When I was ten I didn't enjoy cartoons, i wanted to learn about things, about real things, and that is what all kids should have. You're right, though. It's a little bit graphic for ALL age groups, but I think ten year olds can handle it.

i agree with victoria
