I remember when the Abby Hayes books first came out. It was the year 2000, and I was in grade 2, so you can imagine how excited all the girls got about the Amazing Days of Abby Hayes.

I wasn't very interested in reading it at first because it was never there at the library, someone always took it out. After the initial 'Hayes Craze' died off, I decided to crack open the first one. I read it in one night because I just couldn't put it down. Abby Hayes was just like me, someone to finally share my thoughts!

Now, seven or eight years later, I was going through boxes of my childhood toys that we hadn't unpacked yet from the last time we moved. I found one of the Abby Hayes books in the bottom of the last box, and I was struck with all the good memories from my childhood. I read it in one night again, though it wasn't that hard this time. After reading about Abby's life again, I felt like I had as a child, optimistic and happy. It was like a breath of fresh air in my cluttered and stressful life. When I thought about my childhood before, I didn't remember the Abby Hayes books at all. After I had found and read the book, I could finally remember the good times I had when I was reading or thinking about the Abby Hayes books. It was a good reminder to stay grounded, even when the ground beneath you starts to wobble.

We need to remember that everybody counts, especially in this day and age.
