Hello this review is about Karate. A sport that takes stength, skill and the guts to never give up! I take Karate 2 times a week Tuesdays and Thursdays and believe me it is HARD! I'm a purple belt in Karate. The color's in belt's depend how high a level you are. First there's White then Yellow, Orange, Green, Purple, Brown(x3) and then Black. You have to go through 3 brown belts wich kind of sucks. There's Junior Brown, First Degree and Second Degree.
I take Karate because it's a good work out, you make new friends and it's really fun! If you really work hard at the work out and practing you get to play really fun games at the end of the class. If you take Karate you should know how much fun it is. My teacher's Sensei Donna and Sensei Steve( Sensei means Teacher) REALLY push your limit's at the work out! Besides Kicking, Punching and Self Defense you have to do Kata's. Kata's are baisicly what you learn when your a yellow belt. Well really you learn Seisan when your yellow, Seiuchin when your orange, Nahanchi when your green, Wansu when your purple, Sanchin when 1st Degree brown, Chinto when 2nd Degree and Kusanku when black. But the one who started the Karate style that I take(that's Isshinryu Karate)is master Tatsuo Shimabuku. If you don't take Karate you really should it rocks! Well that's my review about Karate hope you liked it. ByeBye
;)

I'm an absolute karate nut!!! I am at the dojo 6 days a week (its closed on Sundays) Besides teaching about 20 hrs a week, I also train 10 hrs a week. I am a 2nd dan and have been training for about 10 yrs. now. It's not just a hobby, sport or even job. It's a lifestyle and a true passion of mine. Do you cross train in other style like ju-jitsu, judo, kickboxing, krav maga, MMA, aikido, kung fu, weapons systems, etc, etc..???

like to read books when i am free. i like to read all kinds of books including history books, detective story books, literature books or different magazines.
i think reading is a good habit as well as a nice hobby to keep. through reading, i understand a lot more things which i can't learn in class. reading opens my mind and heart, reading gives me wisdom and teach me a lot of valuable lessons too.

I took Goju-ryu Karate for 4 years in Richmond, B.C. and was a 2 kyu (brown belt) when I left. It was a great experience. I've more recently started doing the concepts of Jeet Kune Do which means we take a mix of many martial arts including street defence and decide on our own what works as an individual. This includes Muay Thai, street boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu / Sambo, and weapons defence (Escrima). Now when I practice, there are no Katas or set movements, just practicing technique after technique and I recommend doing this as a more practical approach to martial arts. Take several different kinds from time to time and discover for yourself what you like. I do this the same amount as when I was in Karate, twice a week, two hours per class. We just do a whole mix within each class now.
