Sicko:

Michael Moore put pen to paper and took the plunge. This movie really shows the corrupt government of America for what it is, but seemingly. For example, Michael Moore calmly narrates and explains stories of people, he doesn't yell and say: "Thats why the American Government Sucks!" or something. Remember, Canada has one of the top 5 best Health Care systems on the Earth, while America is in 37th place, "...just slightly above Slovenia..."

This may contain spoilers but... An American man was cutting wood with a power saw. He cut off the tips of his ring and middle finger. And because he had no Health Insurance, he had an offer, either fix the middle finger for $60,000 or the ring finger for $12,000. He could only fully afford his ring finger so his middle finger was thrown into a dump. He now proudly lives life with 3 fingers and a thumb, well half of his middle one. 50 million people like him have no Health insurance in America. Disgusting. although 250 million have health insurance, the HMO and insurance companies decline medical care to their customers 65% of the time. Many times people die because they can't afford something or were declined something, even with Health insurance.

Its weird how Canada has free health insurance and for Americans to cover it up, they lie to the citizens and say: "In Canada they have to wait 9-10 months to get surgery, or an operation or a doctor's appointment!" and the Americans are content believing this. But Michael Moore asks many Canadians. They don't have to pay and wait 10-50 minutes for an appointment.

So in conclusion you should watch Sicko to be educated on Health Care. Plus it's a good movie with sad and happy stories.

I enjoyed this movie quit a bit, but it was kinda really gross at some points. I agree with your rating. 4/5

Michael Moore's documentary "Sicko" brought to light many of the problems contained in the American private health care system. However, this documentary misrepresents the Canadian health care system severely. Michael Moore interviews several Canadian's about their waiting experience in Canadian emergency departments. The classic answer is no longer than one hour. This time limit drastically misrepresents true wait times experienced across Canada. In major hospitals (major hospitals being level 1 or 2 emergency departments), patients have had to wait upwards of 36 hours, with an average wait time just under 12 hours.
These times are significant because, major hospitals are located in urban areas. 80% of Canada's population live in urban areas, therefore statistically the wait times experienced within the documentary do not accurately represent the average Canadian experience. This documentary misinforms Canadians on the problems associated with a public health care system, such as severe wait times, limited access to MRIs and CT Scans, major surgeries, etc.
This documentary was an eye opener but in no way should it be taken seriously. "Sicko" in my point of view was meant to raise awareness about international discrepancies in health care but the public should remember that he does chose his scenes accordingly to portray a specific theme, that being the American private health care system should change to public health care.

the movie is so nice

I liked your review . I am currently living in America .

Micheal Moore really exposed the American health care system for what it is: expensive.
The private health care system needs to go public for it to benefit the American people. I really liked this movie, but parts of it were really gross.
