ERAGON, by Christopher Paolini
I would like to start off by saying this book was simply bad.
This story is set in the magical world of Alagaesia, which is ruled by the evil emperor, Galbatorix. It is about Eragon, a poor farm boy, who finds a dragon egg while hunting. The emperor wants the egg, so his evil servants destroy Eragon's home and kill his uncle and cousin. Eragon, wanting revenge, sets off with his dragon and the village storyteller to kill the people that did this. He finds that he is the last of the Dragon Riders, destined to save Alagaesia.
In this story, the characters were bad. Eragon, after only a bit of training, was almost invincible, making the story worse to read. The other main characters were not very believable. There were many things that contradicted each other, and the plot was entirely ripped off from Star Wars.
To make a long story (a 700-page-long story, in fact) short, this story's plot was plagiarized, the writing was bad, and the characters were awful. Although it will make a good movie, he book is not worth your time.
