Five teen thieves, Jonah, Tye, Motti, Con and Patch, are on a mission to steal the lost sword of Cortes, the sword used by the Spaniards to conquer the ancient Aztecs. When the group of thieves ventures into the evil Guatemalan crook Kabacra’s layer, they cannot find the mysterious sword. Soon they discover, with the help of their boss Coldhardt, that Kabacra has sold his sword to the superstitious Sixth Sun, a group of wealthy individuals who want to bring the Aztec goddess Coaticlue back to earth. Tye, Jonah’s best friend, is kidnapped by the Sixth Sun for unknown reasons. Meanwhile, Jonah and the gang begin to question Coldhardt’s decision of stealing the sword of Cortes and his unfathomable connection to the Sixth Sun, who are about to sacrifice millions of people in Europe to please Coaticlue. Will Jonah and his friends be able to save Tye and the Europeans in time? Or will they have to face the goddess Coaticlue herself?
Thieves Till We Die is a fantastic novel written by Stephen Cole. My favourite part of the book was that I loved how the plot entwined and had various surprises that both surprised and enthralled the reader. Each of the characters had their own unique views and significance to the story. For example, Motti had a very laid-back attitude and enjoyed hacking into security systems.
In conclusion, I would rate this book 4 out of 5 for its action, adventure and mystery.
