Hi there. Mark here again giving you another review of a great game title called Super Mario 3 for the NES. Now this is an old title one of the first i've played and to this day it still stands the test of time well by serving me the best graphics an 8 bit video game system can bust out. The plot is simple as always. mario is relaxing and all of mushroom kingdom is at peace when all of a sudden the evil king bowser comes and takes the princess away. now it's up to our chubby plumber and his brother luigi to stop bowser and get the fair princess back at all costs.
The controls are responsive and handle great with not much complications seeing as he can only jump, run, and flick his tail at the enemies. my favorite part of this game though is the graphics. wow when i was 5 this game was like seeing the PS3 in motion. it amazed me and kept me playing for hours and hours till my mother was yelling at me to do my homework (good times). Each enemy had a different look and attack not much motion in them though but it was easily forgiven and with 8 bosses to battle the game kept you on your feet. The items, although a limited supply in the earlier titles, now flourish with 10 different items ranging from a star to a raccoon suit giving you a lot of reasons to replay the game again and again.
As for the bad areas there are a few problems i found with the game that kind of slowed down what was a great ride like the graphic glitches. what are glitches? you say. well those are moments when the in game graphics deform or slowdown a certain area in the game making it rather annoying to some. The story is a bit small and simple for me. i know i was 5 but for goodness sake i wanted something that really makes me think but even with its faults this game cannot be called a bad game because there are so many good things about this game that you hardly notice it's faults.
So all in all i give this game a 4 out of 5 because even 20 years after its release it still is able to give me the entertainment it once did when i was little so if you ever see this title at a yardsale with a NES packaged with it for a cheap price i say buy it and play it. you'll be glad you did.

Hey mark, I have noticed from your reviews that you are a old school gamer ... so am I! And I have a little problem with this review ... even though you went really in depth with this I think this game should deffintly deserve a 5 stars! This is the best platforming game up to date and it should be appricated to the fullest! Hey and I noticed you live in Halifax ... So do I ! :P

OHHHHH!!! I have an old nintendo, too! Except mine's an SNES... I have Super Mario World, which I think came out in 1990... It's so fun! But I can't get past Donut Plains... XDDD

hey um, u hav very cool games especially the super mario bros, i likey that game alot.yeah i play it with my friend Mckenzie. yeah mostly on the game i die.but it's just a game, a stupid games lol(lots of luv)

I love mario games. this is my favorite. If you dont know about the wistle, its on the third level at the end on the last white block hold down for about 10 seconds and then finish the levle.

I like supermario3 because it's really fun. It has different worlds to go to and you can play at various levels. You can also get bonus games and things to use in the levels and many more.I never get bored of it and it's always motivating to play.
