Train Trax:

This is a very likeable game for all ages. The idea of the game is to arrange all the mixed-up train tracks so they can get power to the locomotives to be put into service. The game is a history and geography lesson as the levels start in Eastern Canada and builds across Western Canada and into the territories. You can get bonuses like spikes(to upgrade locomotives), clocks(to extend your time) and free men.
Of course, the game gets more difficult as you progress, like the tracks now have dead ends that you must work around in order to connect the power. Also, you must be able to connect more locomotives as you move farther west. Kids as well as adults will love this challenging game. The only problem I encountered was having my high score posted. I was sure that it wasn't posted because it was better than all the other scores. Who knows?
Two thumbs, way up!!

I can only ever get 8 0r 9 trains in Ontario and then keep running out of time. Any helpful hints?

At first, work from right to left. Don't attach any dead ends, better for them to get shoved over to the right so you know where they are.
After they are over right it is easier to see which stations you can use and connect them back to the locomotives. Plus, obviously keep practicing!

I finally mastered this game.
Here are some tips:
a) In the beginning provinces, only complete one train at a time. Do not complete multiples simultaneously. This will allow for more bones (spikes) to appear earlier on.
b) when the dead ends come, try to eliminate them only if they are in the middle and hope that when they reappear, they go to the top or bottom. Try to maintain 3-4 rows of dead end free tiles.
c) If Dead ends are everywhere, hit the shuffle button. Keep hitting the shuffle button until you have a nice clear path across that is dead end free.
d) When you arrive at Alberta, start playing for score, not completion. When you are on your last train, let the time run out and play the province again. You normally get a chance for a "1up" on every attempt so this can last for ever if you are good enough. Start this at Alberta, for n occasion, you will accidentally finish the province and move to the next. If you are playing like this and going for high score, allocate hours of free time.
e) Try to save the multipliers for when you can complete several trains simultaneously.
Most of all, have fun. This is a very addictive game!!!
