The Animorphs:

The series of books I'd like to review is "The Animorphs" by K.A Applegate.
The Animorphs is an older book series no longer being written that was heavily featured by Scholastic Books, and for a short time a YTV television show that only spanned a few episodes. (For any of you who might know, the guy who portrayed Iceman/Bobby Drake in the x-men movies portrayed Jake, the leader, in the television show.)
The series was about a group of five teenagers --Jake, Rachel, Tobias, Cassie, and Marco-- and their Andilite companion Aximillion (or Ax for short). The five of them are given morphing powers from a dying Andilite that gives them the ability to absorb the DNA of animals and take their shape.
The series spans 52 books, and several off-shoot books that revolve around their continual fight against the Yerks who are doing a silent invasion of the human population by crawling into ears and controlling a persons mind and body.
It's a really good series for younger ages, I myself, being near 20 used to read them when I was in elementary school. I still have the whole complete series in a box in my basement, and I recommend it to any starter reader who is looking for a well written, involving story.

Animorphs is and has been for 4 years, my favorite bookseries. I even maid a mi=ovie about them, THE UPGRADE where they meet elfangore's brain put in a robotic andalite body. He tells them about the new improved morphing technolegy that lets them morph in the blink of an eye, but you can guess who also finds out and who wants it for himself...

My son, Chance, read every book in the series and had the Red Ranger outfit .He read them to his pets and stuffed animals, too! It was his first intro-duction to ScienceFiction and has been hooked ever since! He has learned amazing things from Sci-Fi.Has pointed out to me, the many things that have become real, such as cloning, nanobot technology and the militery now uses robotic artificial limbs which give super human strength! FANTASTIC!
