Illinoise:

I am here to review Sufjan Stevens' 2005 album Illinoise, an album that most ten-year-olds won't appreciate... but older kids will.
Illinoise is the second album in Stevens' Fifty States Project, a project to create an album representing each of the 50 states in the U.S. (The first album was focused on Michigan.) The 22 songs on the album are all incredible pieces of work that alone would just be incredible. To have so many of them on one disc is eye-popping.
The songs range from the optimistic "Come On! Feel the Illinoise!" to the catchy "Chicago" to the rocking "The Man of Metropolis Steals Our Hearts" to the sad "Casimir Pulaski Day". Stevens uses various things about Illinois as jumping-off points for beautiful mini-epics about love, friendship, and family.
In conclusion, Illinoise is one of the best albums of this decade, and I would STRONGLY suggest that everyone that reads this review go out to their local music store and buy this CD. If they don't have it, DEMAND that they get it. Your life will be enriched by this album and the 22 amazing songs on it.
What are you waiting for?
