That's So Raven:

I am here to review That's So Raven, the show which has launched Raven-Symone's career (or not) and made her a superstar (or not). Is That's So Raven that so wretched? Read on to find out.
The basic premise is that Raven, a fun, fashionable girl from San Francisco or somewhere, has these psychic visions that she often misinterprets. Now, this is a good idea, but it's been done plenty of times before. (But aren't Disney Channel shows always old concepts handed down to children, stale bread crusts handed down to the peasants?)
Anyhow, let's move on to characterization. Raven (which just happens to be her portrayer's name) would have to be cast as an extremely likable person for the show to work, although I suspect that they signed Raven on before even considering any other actresses. Unfortunately, Raven's idea of her character is nothing more than a loud, stubborn, screaming, pseudo-fashionable teenager.
The supporting cast is, for the most part, decent. Looking to appeal to the same audience that they did with The Proud Family (this show seems to have a similar cast... how odd...), the cast is comprised of such lovable characters as an aspiring rapper (who, big surprise, is Raven's love interest); her younger brother, who acts annoyingly (not just to Raven, but also to the audience and for some reason deserved his own spin-off show...), some oddball child who exchanges cheese for beauty products (is this a subtle comment on the state of child nutrition and/or the health of models today?), and finally, the only cast member whose name you deserve to remember...
ANNALISE VAN DER POL. Not only is this girl likable, but despite the way her character has been written (unintelligent and a shopaholic), this spunky redhead also shows young girls (the show's core audience), that it's OKAY to have hobbies, like being in a nature club or table tennis! I applaud your efforts, Annalise, and I wonder why they didn't call the show That's So Chelsea instead. You're far superior to Raven.
Now, let's move on to plot. The plots have some genuinely original stuff thrown into them, but still reek with the scent of the Standard Plot Maker 2000 that kids who watch an episode of That's So Raven and one of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody can find similarities between the two. Likewise, the original plot ideas can get kids thinking about what they're watching (I don't think they get and/or pay attention to those Concerned Childrens' Advertisers ads anymore) and demand good stuff from their programmes.
In conclusion, That's So Raven is a good show with a decent cast. If it wasn't for Raven-Symone, the show would be almost tolerable.

Every time I've been subjected to an episode, I just think of how incredibly inappropriate Raven is as a role model for young kids. If she could act, I might feel more positive about her.

i agree with you, Lari. plus, Raven is another quickley put together show that disney channel didnt even bother to touch up. id rather one really good show on disney then a bunch of lame shows with in-expeirienced actors. id rather watch treehouse, at least their shows are educational and make sense.
