They can be annoying, but sometimes they're important for emergencies. I don't have one because they're expensive and I don't talk on the phone for hours and hours and hours like others. If I had one, I'd want the most expensive ones with the internet, video camera, camera, and texting.

Yes they can be annoying but at the same time they depend on the situation. As a self proclaimed work-a-holic (140 hours in 2 weeks anyone?!?!? ... this was with 2 vacation days and Canada day pay by the way) I am rarely at home and I end up calling family and friends enroute to work, on breaks and lunches. Without it I would be pretty much unreachable in this time. Also I can check my email, listen to music, take notes, play games and whatnot.
My pet peeve is those who cannot turn them down or off in public events and those who call me twice or three times in a row just assuming I missed the call. If I am at work you should realize one call should be enough and I will get back to you when I am free.

I rarely talk to people on the phone, so I don't really want one - but I agree with you, Madeline ... they'd help in an emergency.

Cell Phones are getting really advanced now-adays, I remember when I was about 4 the cell phones were about as big as the phone part of the manual phones. Now they can be as small as a playing card or smaller. And they have high speed internet access, videos, e-mail and cameras built into them! Soon they'll have a full computer system on them, I bet.

My cell phone is my life...lol! I am constantly using it, paying ridiciously expensive bills just to keep in touch wiht people down the road from me... My biggest pet peeve is when someone says "call my cell..." then u call and call and never get an answer! Haaaaate it... I think everyone should have a cell phone, partly for emergencies and mostly to just stay in the loop... Like making ur facebook and MSN msg's go to ur cell is a bit much... but I definatly like to be able to find out whats going on wiht my friends wiht the dial of a few numbers...

BUT IT IS PART OF OUR SOCIETY, AND AS OUR ECONOMY MOVES FOWARD AND TIME GOES BY ITS A NECESITY THAT WE NEED TO LIVE WITH. HOW MANY LIFES HAVE CELLPHONES SAVED FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN IN CAR WRECKS, OR BEEN ABDUSTEC, OR EVEN GOTTEN LOST AND NEEDED TO CALL TO GET DIRECTIONS OR EVEN A PHONE NUMBER. SO LETS JUST GIVE TECHNOLIGY A CHANCE AND KEEP MOVING FORWARD WITH ALL OF OUR GREAT INVENTIONS, BUT AT THE SAME TIME NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT!

The cell phone signals to towers get mixed up with bee's signals, and they can't find their way home and they die. Also, when you throw a cell phone away, it leeches harmful toxins into the earth.

Cell phones aren't good for us, either. Scientists have linked the use of cell phones to brain tumor, especially in kids, because our brains aren't completely developed yet.

I say, only get a cell phone emergency-wise.
