Hi!!! It's Allison of Dark Bud Productions!! =^_^= Today, my review is on an awsome game, "hack.//G.U. Volume 1: REBIRTH\".
This is about the 6th or 7th installment in the .hack game series; there have been 3 on PS2 and even more on PS1. This one follows the story of Haseo, a feisty guy inside the vast online game "The World." About 6 months after the events in .hack//R00TS, (a TV series based on the games) Haseo vows to find out the player who put his friend, Shino, into a coma. Soon, the trail leads to a mysterious man known as "Tri-edge". Haseo allies with many other characters, including innocent Silabus, happy-go-lucky Gaspard, the ever so adorable Atoli, hysterical Piros, and the hilarious duo Kuhn and Pii.
The great thing about this game is that it plays just like an online RPG, but all the data is inside your memory card! 300 other "players" roam the streets, just like in an online game, and they talk to each other and interact with you too! All the weapons and armour are also very cool, and the "customization" option can let you make your own. This game also has lots of after-storyline quests, so you can have fun even after you finish the main story. I gotta warn you, though, it's a tear-jerker!
Some nitpicks I have are that once you get to level 50, the game isn't really challenging anymore. The alchemizing option in the game is very confusing and pointless. It is also quite aggrivating that to get your mail, you need to log out, enter the mail station, delete it, go to the World homepage, and log in again! Another thing that may bug some people (not me! *_*) is the fact that there are so many cutscenes in this game. I always tell my mom that this is more of a movie than a game, and it's true! (The graphics are very stunning, though.)
All in all, this is a very well done game. I'd reccommend it for ages 13+ (for swearing and violence.)You don't really need to get all the other games before this one to understand the storyline. There are also tons of other .hack// mangas, about 5 TV shows, and even a trading card game! Check it out! You won't be dissappointed with this franchise!
Once again, I am Allison from DB Productions. And this was my 2 cents about .HACK//!!!
