That`s horrible, what you said about all the plastic surgery and stuff....but I don`t think they are that bad to play with or anything. I play sometimes with my little sister. She doesn`t want her body to get warped.

Today's meaning of beauty is terrible. It's should be about he inside not the outside. (though barbies are fun!)

I think some of you are taking me too seriously. I'm simply trying to point out what "beauty" is today, and how twisted it is. True I think that barbies are a bad influence, But hollywood, commercials, ectra, are just as bad, I'm not saying that if your sister plays with barbies that she will become anerexic or belimic, but I'm just try to show you how warped todays view on beauty is. Also you are right Lily, It is ALL what it is on the outside? If you are disfigured in an accident, how much are you going to care how she or he looks? So basicly I'm sorry if it sounded like I was trying to tell you that barbies were a force of evil, I wasn't just simple try to point out how big of an influence they are in "beauty". Dove made a really cool video on how much work and hours of warping on the computor it takes to make a "beautiful" female model for a bilboeard sighn, I suggest you all check it out.

This world has been obsessed with beauty and looking good and some of that influence comes from incredibly skinny dolls.
Most companies have the "star" have white skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes. The other thing that gets on my nerves is the little girls who play with them love the stars and how they look!
My little cousin with brown hair, brown eyes, and white skin were playing. Once I said, "If you could have an color eyes, hair or skin, what would it be?" and she said, "Like Barbie. Long blonde hair, blue eyes, and my skin."
And since I have a girly girl company obsessed cousin, I saw what the characters acted like on the website.
It was terrible. All the girls cared about was hair, boyfriends,make up, and shopping!
I also saw a terrible video on Myscene about how the girls decided not to shop for an entire day. They went to the park insted. Then they imagined nature becoming things that they saw at the mall, like a dog becoming shoes and a fountain becoming a fountain of jewerly. Then the girls "had" to go to shopping.
What really ticked me off was the video didn't show any lesson about nature being more enjoyable than shopping.

k, so firstly really bad grammar *twitch* and secondly, yes barbies are freakishly skinny and if barbie was an actual person she's be 8 feet tall and have a 10 inch waist and size 5 feet...but still i'm 5'3 and i have a 20 inch waist and size 3 feet...i have small feet though...but i'd say i have an average sized waist...besides barbie would look stupid if her thighs rubbed together...so obviously she has to have skinny legs...but the whole body image thing is messed i honestly think its a waste for yound girls to diet or not eat, or puke everything up, just because they want to look thin...i honestly don't care about my weight =D

Barbies are fun to play with and i'm not saying don't buy them but they are kind of skinny. Even if they are, that dosn't mean people have to be Stupid and go Anorexic or Bulimic and destroy themselves over a stupid BARBIE LOOK!! People need to understand that GOD gave them a beautiful body in his own image the way he wanted you to look like and they need to keep it natural and deal with it. They don't need to poison themselves or look different and be someone thier not. There is someone in this world who loves them for who they are on the outside and inside. (not including family.) Those people need to get over themselves and realize the the best way to become "thin, but not to thin" is by exercising and eating write. Besides Barbie is a made up doll anyways. I hope the peopel who are that way wake up to reality and get over it. I hope you people agree with me!

Yes, I think Barbie's are too skinny and give an unrealistic example of how girls look, but think about it. How would it look if a barbie was huge. Plus, women today may not be that skinny, but they also would not be six-inches-tall.
Today, companies are making barbies of people who don't have a perfect barbie, like a girl from Hairspray had her own barbie now and she doesn't have a 10-inch-waist.

I hate the way people change how they look using surgery, except for people who need to loook different to live(I saw this commericial asking fror money for kids whose mouths and noses were twisted up, not only were they made fun of, but they had problems eating and talking, so they needed plastic surgery to get a normal mouth.) i never liked the idea of changing your body's apperence through surgery. i never thought dying your hair, using colored contacts, or tanning your skin was nessacary either. Be proud of what you were born as, don't change what you look like, it's really not nessacary.

alright I know this may sound like it makes no sense or that it's completly off topic but I'm probably the size of a normal healthy tweenager but my feet (beleive it or not!) are a size 11! soon to be 12. so you can be normal sized and have big feet you can be any size and have any sized feet so the feet thing with barbie has nothing to do with beauty really, no one in their right mind stares down at peoples feet and says look at the size of her feet! she is so ugly! Because most people are judging your face and if you're truly a good person you won't do that either! And that's all I have to say!

I used to play with barbies because they were fun when I was little. But now they have changed,skirts when you make them bend over you can see their behinds, low low v necks and things like that.When I played with them they ALL had skirts to their ankles and tee-shirts(there were some skanky clothes but only a few) so maybe we wouldn't be saying this like 10 or 11 years ago. Did Uma actually write that? Shes right. Boney is in and it probably won't go out at least for 20 or 30 years maybe more. If celebrities accepted the way they are and didn't have surgery or go on 800-900 calorie a day to weigh 115 lbs,Boney never would be in, heathy would be.

barbies are so "warped" it would be impossible for them to do anything. They're tiny feet wouldn't be able to walk with all that upperbody weight and the thin waist wouldn't be able to hold it up either.

I think people are obsessed with other peoples appearances and their own. Barbies have been created ages before" the horrible influence on beauty" has had this much of an impact on everybody. Media has relied on beauty for sales, ratings and everything else. I find it sicking that people judge you for what you look like rather then what you say. I was watching T.V and a commercial came on for baby brats that had baby figures with tiny skirts and make-up. What kind of message is this to seven year olds? If that baby figureine looks like a prostitute why shouldn't I? When I was 12 or 13 I never wore make-up or dressed older. But now it is all I see is the younger girls fighting for attention and trying to appear "sexy". Media has shoved this down everyones throught so much we can't breath. But we are still seeing good looking people over every add. Nothing in the Media should be taken to heart.

I agree with Caitlin entirely. People shouldn't judge you on your 'outer beauty' because a person is made up of so much more than that. It sickens me to think that if our generation believes they need to degrade themselves and dress improperly at 12 or 13 what about the next generation? Will 8 and 9 year olds start wearing make-up and barely any clothes? It's terrible that girls feel the need to change their body just to feel accepted. Plus, it's not only the surgery that girls are pressured into doing but being skinny at any cost.Eating disorders(example anorexia and bulemia) are quite common among tween-teen girls. Media is ruining people's lives.

Children who are influenced by Barbie, Bratz, and even Littlest Pet Shop, get the wrong idea about their bodies and animals. Glittery pets, a life full of fun with a boyfriend and several friends (never appearing to go to school) and clothing that is waaaay to mature for them, is not right, it is warped.

I meen in\m a boy and there is this girl in my class that absalutly loves Bratz and she said that barbie is gonna go to court and try to shut down Bratz! i feel sooo sad for her.
