I've never seen doctor Who but by the commercials, I don't think much of it.

I saw the original one's in the '90s and I was fascinated by the story lines In the new one's I found it the same way challenging in trying to guess what it will lead. Also the animating parts are well mastered, as an artist I was fascinated by the whole presentation. I enjoy a great deal science-fiction!

DR Who is a horrible show, its about some guy who gets young women to go into a telephone booth and takes them on magic adventures. If I wanted to see that I'd watch CSI.

I watched them last year and during the summer i asked my dad when Dr Who would come on again. he did not know. one night was watching television and my dad asked me for the remote. i gave it to him and he went to channel 200 and there it was! a whole new season! i love Dr Who!

its one of those shows you have to give a chance and look beyond the seemingly strange concept. its really A LOT more than a guy trying to coax woman into a phone box. and the history behind is just amazing. i don't know any other show that has that much history

Doctor Who is an incredibly versatile, and long-running science fiction show that has spand decades and media types. When it's bad, it gets really bad, and when it's good, it gets really good. But either way it goes, it's always enjoyable to watch! Different eras of the show appeal to different people, so if you don't like what is currently airing, you may want to check out older episodes.

I anxiously wait for the next episode to air on CBC and wish it were advertised more to encourage people to enjoy a clean family program which has delighted me since I was a child and to this day. This program lets us use our imagination to see into fictional futures and pasts.
This a work of genious and those who don't get it may be expecting special effects to show the whole story. You only get it if you let yourself go and let your imagination take you to the world of Dr.Who.

Dr Who is a great family program. Having just moved across from the UK, I can definitely say that Series 2 is well worth the wait!! You shouldnt really compare the new series with the older Dr Who episodes from the 60s, 70s & 80s though, it stands in its own right in my opinion - and it is great to see the old enemies reappearing!!

Doctor Who Series 1 and 2 are awesome and it is great to know the CBC is a part of this series as well as the spinoff Torchwood. The question is when will CBC be airing Torchwood? After Doctor Who finishes its final four episodes of Series 2? Summer? Also, wiill Series 3 of Doctor Who begin in the fall of 2007? Oh, and what about the Christmas special (Doctor Who: The Runaway Bride) that aired on BBC on New Year's Day be airing in Canada? Other than that, I believe CBC can really benefit by airing more Sci-Fi shows made in Canada and produced by CBC. Thanks for what you've done thus far.

I agree with your review. I think Doctor Who is so cool! David Tennant, the new Doctor is a very great actor. I (try to) watch it every week because it's very exciting. This show just makes CBC more appealing to a younger audience who would like a sci-fi drama. Doctor Who, a show for all.

In my opinion, Dr. Who is an amazing show. Although I don't like it when the actors change. I think David Tennant and Billie Piper are really good, so I'll be sad when it's over.

I never really watched any of the old shows but I liked Christopher Eccleston so I decided to give the show a chance and absolutely loved it.I hated to see Eccleston leave but Tennant is just as good in the role and I still watch it every week.I hope CBC plays the Christmas special soon.I can't wait for Torchwood and the Adventures of Sarah Jane Smith to start on CBC too.At least I hope they'll be airing here in Canada.

I hope CBC airs The Runaway Bride soon and doesn't wait forever to start airing season/series 3. I think it is silly that I saw Season/series 2 of Doctor Who at HMV long before it finished airing on CBC. But I also didn't want to pay $90 for it either.

Torchwood will be airing on CBC I believe, but it's definitely not for kids, AT ALL.

The Doctor Who Information Network reports that Series Three will debut on the CBC in June. No broadcast date for the Runaway Bride has been set yet, though. :(

They further report that Torchwood will premier in the Fall lineup. No word yet on the Sarah Jane Adventures.

If it weren't for the CBC, the new series of Doctor Who might not have gotten off the ground since they provided production money.

I just wish the CBC would be a bit more consistent with their viewing schedule. How do they expect to build a fan base, if they keep knocking it around the schedule and make us wait a whole year for new episodes like they did between Series 1 and 2?

Please CBC, be kind to our Doctor. Oh, and please could we see George interview David Tennant on The Hour? I think that would be awesome! :)

Completely agree with Ivriniel about consistency and I've heard that Torchwood will be coming at some point... I'm also extremely glad to discover that others were as irritated (to say the least!) as I was when CBC put it on hiatus over Xmas... I've been in the UK and thus got to see some of the new series, it's fab and you'll love it (Martha IS good- not like Rose but still), but I desperatly want to see Torchwood... please help me and bombard the authorities with emails asking for scheduling confirmation!!

im soo excited for DW! Its amazing! But what about Runaway Bride? Will they show that before season three?

I think the cbc is a little disorganized.

The new Doctor Who will be airing starting June 18. The "Runaway Bride" episode will, oddly, be playing a few hours *after* the first episode.

I just saw Torchwood advertised in the fall lineup. It is definitely worth watching, but -- as Alex said a few months ago -- it is not suitable for kids.

I wish CBC would show the Christmas Special at Christmas and the main series close to when it runs in Britain. And for Pete's sake, put the show in a time slot (Saturday night at 7 would be nice) and leave it there, don't keep preempting it for other stuff.

I mean it's bad enough it has so many commercials in, mostly CBC promo ads at that, but it's edited by hacksaw to fit the all these ads in, never mind cutting away in the middle of a line of dialogue to commercial.

CBC, I am so very happy that some of my tax money is going to support Doctor Who, but maybe you guys might try treating the show with the respect it deserves.

season three of the new series was well worth the wait. martha will be a good companion, i have already spoiled the series surprises by frequent visits to the bbc site, however knowing what will happen, i still look forward to the cbc broadcasts! the fact that someone at the cbc had the forsight to get together with the bbc to produce this show gives me hope that there will be something other than hockey night in canada, (i have grown soooooo sick of hockey) to watch. perhaps some new homegrown entertainment in the spirit of the kids in the hall or tommy hunter nature. as for a sci-fi series i think david suzuki provides mountains of it! ha

I cannot agree more. It's great that the CBC is involved with Doctor Who, but at the same time it seems like the show is their "throwaway" show, aired whenever there's nothing else to air and pre-empting it for anything and everything. I don't understand why the CBC contributes funding and then doesn't back up their efforts.
How many likely viewers does the CBC lose because they cannot air the show on-time? It's so easy to acquire a show nowadays once it's aired somewhere in the world, one would think the CBC would want to get as many viewers as they can for a show they helped fund.
I can see the CBC saying "Well, Doctor Who recieved very poor ratings so we're pulling it", when those poor ratings are directly the fault of extremely belated broadcasting.

Things started off so well with the new series premier, the CBC aired the show on-time, had Christopher Eccleston "hosting" and the support and enthusiasm seemed so solid. Now, it's almost as though the CBC could really care less. It's disheartening.

I know a lot of people watch, but I also know a lot of people that "could" be watching aren't doing so because they've already seen the episodes. And who can blame them? They're fans, they don't want to run the risk of being spoiled by a long wait, it's a great show. Indeed, CBC, give Doctor Who the respect it deserves and be more timely in your broadcasts.
Oh yes, and PLEASE, I beg of you, would you stop hacking in promo spots for your shows in the middle of an episode! It's obnoxious beyond belief.

I agree with the many comments above directed at the CBC and their unbelievably poor scheduling abilities. You'd think as a co-producer of Dr. Who they would a) provide a less frustrating and more actually informative site for it online and b) get the episodes on air in a more timely fashion. While awaiting the arrival of Series 2 and 3 I attempted to look up information about when they'd start, etc. on the so-called information site on CBC and was practically driven mad by it. The new series are absolutely brilliant - even if I weren't a fan (which obviously, I am) of the entire Dr. Who timeline. I can see from some of the entries that we will also finally be getting "Torchwood". Fantastic! I just hope CBC manages to be a little more diligent about promoting and providing information about it! Now all we need is to get them to show the new children's series with Sarah Jane Smith....

Freema Agyeman aka Martha is a great actress. Even though she will never be able to replace Rose, I'm glad she played as the Doctor's companion.

I'm American, and I love DW, too. It does irritate me that I can't find out any info on the new series until it seems the last minute. CBC you need to start showing them more in time with the BBC or you are going to lose revenue. Last year, the Sci Fi channel showed the season before your episodes. That was a lot of viewers to throw away. Now Torchwood is going to be on BBC America in the fall, too. Which network is going to air first?

CBC will be airing it in the Fall, but have not said when yet.

Also, "Torchwood" was produced with a more adult audience in mind, airing in late night (after 9 PM) in the UK, and contains scenes that are more graphic than anything that has appeared in "Doctor Who" so far. The new show is not intended to be seen by younger viewers.

The CBC airing of Torchwood has finally been set for Friday, October 5 at 9:00 pM EDT.

I've seen the first episode and it's very interesting, but as previously posted, it's aimed at a more mature audience and has some swearing and other language that some may not find appropriater for younger viewers.

I've also seen the pilot of the Sarah Jane Adventures, which is geared towards the younger kids and a big improvement over K-9 and Company. It's just gone into production in the UK, so hopefully CBC will pick it up too.

Like others, I get frustrated by the delay in broadcasts. It's hard to understand, given that the CBC co-produces Doctor Who. Hopefully they will use that financial pull to wrangle a Canadian based episode.

doctor who is my all time favorite show and i never miss a week when it is on. i really liked it when billie piper was on and was disappointed to learn she would no longer be on the show...i did watch the entire 3rd season with the martha jones character and now that i have come to like her i learn that she is leaving the show as well and that the bride from the christmas special will be playing the doctors companion...o well the doctor was always my favorite character anyways!

the show is doing extremely well in the UK (it is the UK's equivalent of "heroes") and it could do well in Canda too, if only it wasent for the low amount of advertisements promoting the show... i mean, the cbc is co-producing DW so you'd think they'd care a bit more about it!
also, the ratings for the show could be better, if the show wasent aired almost a year after the original release date in the UK. tons of DW fans are not going to bother watching the show a year later on the cbc, if they can get it off the internet, a couple of days later...
i was also dissapointed about not seeing the DW xmas special "the voyage of the damned" on the cbc. and it even had kylie minogue as the doctor's compagnion! guess i'll be watching that in the summer at midnight again :'( ....

Congratulations to CBC for airing Dr Who & Torchwood. I can understand those who say they don't like it because not everyone likes Sci-fi with a twist that really makes you think.
What a refreshing change from the usual boring shows put out in North America.
Torchwood is brilliant, the acting is second to none and the story lines really drag you into the show. For anyone not sure I'd say watch 2 episodes and I bet you get hooked.

I really appreciate Doctor Who. Yes, it's quirky and really based on "wierd science" but it's a lot of fun to watch. In my 30's now but grew up with the original doctor who and I think they've done a wonderful job. Same wacky adventures, but amazing production; and decent special effects!

I've been watching Doctor Who since I was a little kid... My entire family (4 kids and myself) Love catching the New Doctor Who on TV... I've even been buying the DVDs when they come out. Torchwood is just as great as Doctor Who... The graphics have changed so much from when I was kid and so have everything else... it was great when I was a kid and its even better now.

My whole entourage has been waiting for CBC to at least let us know when we can expect the new Xmas special and Series 4 to show - even if they say it won't be until the fall!!! Well, the USA-owned SciFi Channel just advertized
The Sarah Jane Chronicles start at 7:30pm on Friday, April 11th
The new season of Doctor Who starts at 8:30pm on Friday, April 18th
So I immediately came to CBC to look for it here, and there is still no info about the new season anywhere I've found.
Last week the TV schedule was 'To Be Announced' and this week it's Hockey Night In Canada all night every night through the end of July.

Is Dr.Who coming back this summer on CBC? I am getting nowhere by searching www.cbc.ca.

I have searched every possible link for info on Series 4 on CBC with no luck. I even contacted the BBC who referred me on to BBC America - who only has re-runs listed and we don't even get BBC America! We are BEYOND READY to have our Doctor back!!!

For Canadians anxiously waiting for Series 4 (or Season 30, depending on who u talk to ;-) of Doctor Who to hit the screens… word on the street is that the CBC will be waiting until the fall... Reason for this is once the NHL playoffs are done, the Olympics will be kicking into high gear… and as we all know from past seasons, the CBC has a habit of going pre-empting CRAZY when it comes to Doctor Who… So a fall launch would give it an uninterrupted run… and with any luck, would kick off with Voyage of the Damned as the season opener...

But for those of you (like me!) who think the fall is WAY too long to see the new season… as of today you can see Voyage of the Damned, Partners in Crime and Fires of Pompeii all on YOUTUBE… This saturday the BEEB will be airing Planet of The Ood, which should be available on YOUTUBE the day after... (sorry CBC... but I'll still watch all the episodes again when you FINALLY do air them... even if it's months from now! ;-)

OH... and once last thing (sorry for the massively long posting!) But for those of you who get the new digital channel BOLD (the rebranded CBC country canada), you can catch re-runs of Doctor Who starting with Christopher Eccleston's first/last season Wedensdays at 8pm… and of course classic Who airs on BBCK Saturday nights at 2am with Tom Baker episodes... and The Sarah Jane Adventures airs Sunday nights on BBCK at 9pm...

CBC, i can wait until fall, but only if you promise to bring the doctor back. And maybe make better trailers for it, like ones that deal with what happens in each episode, not just the show in general.

I think that it is completely unfair that an american channel gets Doctor who season 4 before canada does. The CBC co-produces the show for goodness sake!

I agree with most of the comments above. It is not fair that most other channels smaller than CBC are airing it. Doctor Who should have a higher priority here.

I have actually known that for a few days now. Sorry for not mentioning it!

September 19th is a Friday. When a network airs a show on a friday, it means they don't have very high expectations for it. Because, most people have other things to do on Friday then watch TV. Looks like this could be the end for the Doctor. In Canada anyway.

I want to see Series 4 on CBC during a time slot kids can watch it. finally there is programming without a bunch of adult warnings in front of it. Dr. Who is good clean family entertainment. Sure it is wierd sometimes but The Doctor is still one of the best characters on TV, or atl east he would be if we Canadians could watch season 4...... Please bring it back.

AAAAAGGGGHHHH!!!!! I FRIDAY?!?!?!? I had to tape the whole Torchwood series because I can never be home on a Friday!! Doctor Who is the only thing that made my Monday's tolerable!

CBC, you have really disappointed us! Give us some ANSWERS, for goodness sake! And give us some better commercials. I was seriously disappointed last year.

And why must we wait a WHOLE YEAR for it to come back on the air? I understand that it is the Olympics this summer, but at least give us some information! "Doctor Who will air on ... this date." That's all it takes ... not too hard, is it? I few lines, and everyone's happy. I'm sure a programmer knows.

But I think someone is just playing with our minds ...

It's a shame that most Canadian Doctor Who fans will have already obtained the series through "other methods" long before the CBC airs it. They really dropped the ball. I feel sorry for any fans who want to avoid some of the major spoilers that will be uncontrollable once the fourth season ends.

The thing that irrates me the most is that DW is sponsered by CBC, and therefore is MOSTLY canadian, yet I have to watch season 4 on youtube every monday.. This REALLY bugs me cause DW is an addiction.. Ha ha.. But by Sept. I'll have already seen the series, p.s - Rose fans will LOVE this season (I know I do..) sorry for the spoilers!

It`s sad that the CBC is waiting that long to air the show. My parents got me into watching it and then Torchwood. I have been following both shows via Youtube but my parents wanted to wait for it to come back on TV and will have to make sure to avoid any spoilers.
Does anyone know when Torchwood will be coming back since it has been done for months now in the UK

i can across a posting on another site say that Torchwood would be air Sept 16.

Just found out Torchwood starts Friday August 8th at 9pm on Space... it's 2 hour special so I don't know if its regular time will be 9pm or 10pm, the former time clashing with the new season of Dr. Who from mid Sept.
I also want to echo the thoughts of others who are staggered by the poor treatment that Dr. Who and its fans are afforded by the CBC. The first season was great, airing just a few days after the UK showing so why could that not be done again???

everywhere I go their is never any information.all I can find are links to watch season 4 on line, which i won't do since it's practically stealing. CBC, give us some answears please. If your not going to air season 4, just say so. stop fooling with us.

I LOVE DOCTOR WHO!!!! I have seen every episode of the new seasons at least twice, if you're not interested in it you should try watching torchwood, it's like CSI except with aliens. I can't believe David Tennant is leaving! HE WAS THE BEST!!!! I'm obsessed as you can probably tell.

Doctor Who! I wish CBC showed more of it! I sat down half way through the second episode of a two part series and I was hooked. It's funny, it's spacy, it's brilliant. In short, it's everything I want in a TV show. I do wish we didn't have to cut parts to make it fit in a slot, give it the respect it deserves. I'd also like to see more advertisement, I always miss things... Thank you BBC & CBB.
PS. I don't think it's fair that Canadians have to wait longer than Americans to see a British TV show.
