How did the wicked witch of the west become so evil? Was she even evil? What was her life like? These are a few of the questions that this book answers about a character that hes been around for a long time, and not many people even know her real name.
This book is about the "behind the scenes" of The Wizard of Oz. It tells you the life and times of the wicked witch of the west.
The way her parents treated being born green, with teeth as sharp as a sharks teeth, and not being able to touch water.
I like this book because it has adventure, romance and is something new. It is different because it tells you about someone that every one knows but don't know much about. Not about some randome girl or guy whom no one knows.
It also tells you things you don't really know. Like the wicked witches name was Elphaba. Her nick name was Elphie. Her sister was born horribly disfigured. She had no arms and could barely walk on her own. Her original name was "Galinda" but one of the school professors pronounced her name as "Glinda" so her name became Glinda.
Elphie went to school and college like a normal human she had a life that didn't follow the path of evil at the start but how does it finish?
Read Wicked written by Gregory Maguire.

maybe, just a thought, you should read reviews before you post them, because the elphies sisters name is not Galinda or Glinda (that's her room mate at school's name) her sisters name is Nessarose

I love this book and the broadway show. It is really good. It shows that people aren't evil because they are bon that way, its just their life affects them.
GO WICKED!

This book was very good, although it is intended for ADULTS and not children. Many scenes are very graphic and innapropriate for younger people. I would give this a "movie rating" of AA, or PG-14.
