All-Albertan Song Contest Winners!

This week, the All-Albertan Song Contest revealed its top 3 prize winners. And if you've been listening to the Key of A this year, you'll have heard them all. In fact, 3rd prize goes to Colleen Brown, who we featured just last week on the show. She wins $2,000 for her song, Western Fire.

2nd prize of $3,000 goes to Eamon McGrath of Edmonton, and we'll hear him in a live set recorded earlier this year at the 2010 Transcanada Alberta Music Series.

1st prize goes to Danny Vacon of Calgary for his song, Green and Gold. We'll hear that winning song, plus a live set by Danny's "solo project" band, Dojo Workhorse. This has been a great year for Danny (who also fronts the rock band, The Dudes). Not only has he just won the $10,000 first prize in the All-Albertan Song Contest, this summer Dojo Workhorse won the Galaxie Rising Star Award for their performances at the Calgary Folk Music Festival.

Congratulations to all the winners -- and big thanks to Contest sponsors ATB Financial, Big Rock Brewery, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, CKUA Radio, and the Alberta Music Industry Association!
