Calgary Band WOMEN, in studio!

WOMEN -- an all-male band, based in Calgary -- are just about to release their 2nd cd, Public Strain. The album doesn't actually hit the stores until next Tuesday, September 28th, but it's already getting rave reviews, and generating lots of buzz.

For example, on September 13, the first single from the new record, Eyesore, was named "Best New Track" by the very influential music website, Pitchfork.

Of course no one's more surprised by WOMEN's sudden rise to fame than the members of the band themselves. And this week on the show, bandmembers Chris Reimer and Patrick Flegel join Katherine in the studio to spin some tracks from the new record, and talk about the band, its music, and their seemingly overnight success. (Note: as usual, overnight success is a long process!)

Plus, more Alberta nominees for the 2010 Western Canadian Music Awards. This week we'll hear Alberta contenders for Pop, Rock and Independent Recording of the Year.
