Russell Broom wins 2 WCMA's; Lorrie Matheson, Alice Kos and more
This week on the Key of A, we celebrate the Alberta winners at this year's
Western Canadian Music Awards -- including double winner
Russell Broom, who won Best Producer and Best Recording
engineer awards. We'll listen to some of his recent award-winning work with
artists Michael Bernard Fitzgerald and Chris
Austman. We'll hear Ariane Mahryke Lemire's song
Je Suis le Genre; the video for that song won the Best Video award;
and songs from Sojourner by Joal Kamps, winner in the Contemporary Christian/Gospel category.
You'll hear C'mon Arizona, the first single from
the newly configured Edmonton-Toronto band Christian Hansen,
back in Edmonton next weekend for three shows Oct 11-13.
Calgary singer/songwriter and record producer Lorrie
Matheson drops by for a chat about his soon-to-be released new album,
The Night is for Sleepers. (If you're in Calgary, you
can catch Lorrie live this weekend; he's playing a double bill with Edmonton's
Alice Kos, Sat Oct 6 at Wine Oh's.)
Plus -- we ask the question, "What is your dog dreaming about when he's
asleep?" That question inspired a lovely concept EP by the Calgary band
Boreal Sons.
