Corb Lund live at the Arden Theatre

With the Canadian Country Music Awards happening this weekend, we're focusing in on Alberta nominees. You'll hear from High Valley, up for Duo or Group of the Year. The three young brothers from La Crete have already released 3 albums -- we'll hear songs from their latest, Love is a Long Road.

Smart, funny, authentic songwriter Corb Lund has a well-earned fan base that extends well beyond the borders of Country music, and he's in the running for the CCMA for Roots Artist of the Year. Corb's newest album, Cabin Fever, debuted at #1 on the iTunes chart when it was released last month. Before the album came out, Corb and his band The Hurtin' Albertans played through all the songs at a special release concert at the Arden Theatre in St. Albert. CBC microphones were there to record the music and you'll hear Part 1 of that show this week on the Key of A.

Plus, previews of live shows happening this weekend in Calgary and Edmonton. Purity Ring brings their futuristic, catchy electro-pop to The Republik in Calgary and the Starlite Room in Edmonton.

Acoustic urban folk artist Michael Reinhart travels down the QE2 from his home in Edmonton for a show at the Ironwood Stage and Grill in Calgary.
