Cosmetic pesticide legislation criticized
The NDP is criticizing legislation introduced by the Provincial government aimed at reducing the use of cosmetic pesticides. Environment critic Rob Fleming says an out right ban is needed, claiming the legislation will not make cosmetic pesticides less available. Environment Minister Terry Lake is defending the legislation, saying a ban isn't necessarily backed by science. The legislation would allow the Environment Ministry to regulate cosmetic pesticides so they can only be used by licensed professionals. The NDP points out that when Christy Clark was running for the Liberal Leadership she was in favour of a pesticide ban.
