Fatal snow mobile crash near Valemount

RCMP are investigating a fatal snow mobiling accident on Highway five near Valemount.
A man was found pinned under his snowmobile in a ditch along the highway yesterday.
He was taken to the clinic in Valemount, where he was pronounced dead.
The cause of the accident is still being investigated.

Death at Big White Ski resort

A 22 year old Winnipeg man has died after being found suffering from severe hypothermia at Big White Ski resort near Kelowna Wednesday. The B.C. Coroner's Service says Nickolas Voyer-Taylor had been snowboarding before he was found injured, unconscious and partially submerged in a creek. Members of the resort's ski patrol pulled him out and he was taken to Kelowna General Hospital, but could not be revived. The coroner is continuing to investigate the death.

Canim Lake water warning

The Cariboo Regional District is asking Canim Lake area residents to avoid using the water system for the time being. A release from the district says the water notice is being issued due to contamination of the system. The CRD has asked Interior Health to help investigate.
An alternate water source is available at the Forest Grove Fire Hall.

Kelowna had highest rate of impaired driving nationally in the 2011

Statistics Canada has released new figures on impaired driving. They show mixed results. The numbers look at 2011. They show police recorded 90 thousand impaired driving incidents across the country. That's three thousand more than the year before. But the number of impaired driving related deaths was the lowest in 25 years. Kelowna along with St. John's had the highest impaired driving rate in the country.
