Jobs numbers from December are in

The Canadian economy continues to create jobs at a surprisingly strong pace. The employment numbers are out for the month of December, and to the surprise of most analysts, more than 40 thousand jobs new jobs were created. That's almost tens times the number most were predicting. In our province we gained around 6 hundred jobs in December.   The unemployement dropped to 6.5 percent from 6.8.

Teen dies in Snowmobile crash

A 16 year old girl from Chilliwack was killed Sunday when she lost control of her snowmobile near Coquihalla Lakes Lodge. The B.C. Coroners Service says Billie Brittany Bell was airlifted to Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster where she died. The coroners service says the teen's family has been notified. An investigation into the death is underway.

Norovirus Quarantine

A quarantine remains for more than 40 people at Ridgeview lodge in Kamloops. It was put in place at the care facility because of an outbreak of Norovirus. Dr Andrew Larder is a medical health officer with Interior health. Larder says there have been a number of outbreaks but they are not actually that uncommon. He says washing your hands is key to avoiding the virus. And he says if you do get sick, drink a lot of water and avoid preparing food for anyone.
