Another pedestrian accident in Kamloops
The string of pedestrian accidents continues in Kamloops. A 20 year old man is in critical condition at Royal Inland hospital after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday night. RCMP say around 6 o'clock the victim was crossing at a crosswalk on Westsyde road near Parkview drive. A westbound vehicle came around the corner hitting him and throwing him several feet.
The young man sustained serious head injuries and was taken to hospital. The 50 year old male driver stayed at the scene and police say he was released without charges. Staff Sergeant Fran Bethell says the cause of the crash is still to be determined and charges could still be laid against the driver.
Kelowna Mountie has pleaded guilty
A Kelowna Mountie pleaded guilty to assault moments before he was scheduled to testify at his own trial yesterday. Constable Geoff Mantler was charged after he kicked Buddy Tavares in the head in January 2011, while Tavares was on his hands and knees. Mantler has been suspended without pay and will be sentenced in January or February.
