Sparse Jumbo supporters 'getting their way' said NDP MLA

A new town, a new mayor, a new council -- but no voters, and not even any buildings.

The ski resort community of Jumbo, west of Invermere, still has to make its way onto a map, but it has certainly taken its place in B.C. history after two decades of controversy.  Here's a timeline of its progress.

Tuesday, the Liberal government announced Jumbo Glacier Resort would be come the province's third resort municipality, after Sun Peaks and Whistler.

But the glacier resort development faces stiff opposition from First Nations, locals and the official opposition, the NDP.

Norm Macdonald is the New Democrat MLA for the riding that now includes the Jumbo Glacier Resort Municipality.
