Kamloops murder a 'double tragedy'

Just over a year ago, in the Kamloops neighbourhood of Westmount, 18-year-old Joshua Steel killed his father.

Phil Steel was attacked and beaten with a metal fireplace tool, and Joshua was charged with second-degree murder.

Joshua's trial ended in a Kamloops courtroom on Thursday, and he was found not criminally responsible.

The case is being called a double tragedy; his family says they tried for years to get Joshua help, but were unsuccessful.

Cam Fortems covered the trial for the Kamloops Daily News, and explains to Daybreak host Shelley Joyce what he heard and saw.
