Kamloops man remembered after tragic sliding crash

Messages of condolence are flooding in for the family of the Kamloops man who died from injuries he sustained at Sun Peaks. 24 year old, Nick Guido died after he crashed into a support tower while sliding on a crazy carpet early Sunday morning. On his girlfriend Savannah's facebook page, a family friend writes " my heart aches for you and your little girl and for all the family." The hill was closed when Guido crashed. It is believed he was sledding with friends at the time of the crash. The B.C. coroners investigation is continuing.

Another mine on Kamloops door step?


A Vancouver mining firm exploring for copper in Kamloops released its test results Monday. The tests were conducted in an area behind Pineview valley. In the Discovery Corp Enterprises media release it states "The company believes the Galaxy project has similar geology to Ajax and could be a significant find on its own as well as represent a valuable asset to the right buyer." The Galaxy project is roughly between the New Afton Mine and the proposed Ajax mine. The company released assay results on just three holes but they showed mineralization for copper, gold and silver.

Bizarre death was a suicide

A coroner says a convicted killer whose body became food for a bear outside of Kamloops last May had committed suicide. The official report on the death of 53 year old Rory Nelson Wagner of Chilliwack says the man died of a cocaine overdose. His body was found partially consumed by a bear in a remote area, south of Kamloops. The bear was later tracked down and shot. Wagner, who had pleaded guilty to the second degree murder of a Langley man in 1994, had disappeared while on day parole a week before his body was found.

Thieves get away empty handed


Kamloops RCMP say someone broke into the RA hair studio and Spa on Notre Dame drive last night. Although a front window was broken the thieves found empty tills and got away empty handed. Police say someone had also tried to break in to the hair studio Sunday night, but the cleaners scared them away.
