NHL suspends games through November

The NHL has told teams it will suspend games through the end of November. The official announcement will come later today. The league had set yesterday as the deadline for the players to agree to a new contract proposal. The deadline passed without any meaningful talks between the two sides. The NHL locked out the players on September 15th when the collective bargaining agreement expired.

Fire investigators are looking for the cause of a blaze that left one man dead this morning in Kelowna. Firefighters contained the fire to one bedroom, and found the male victim lying on the floor. Paramedics tried to revive the man but he passed away at the scene.

The annual poppy campaign has kicked off in Kamloops. The pins that are sold locally bring in more than 50 thousand dollars a year to support veterans and their families.
