Police continue to investigate a shooting at the Douglas border crossing yesterday that left one man dead and put a female Canadian guard in hospital. RCMP Corporal Bert Paquet say says the male suspect, who was entering Canada in a white van with Washington state licence plates, appears to have died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after shooting the guard.
The wounded officer is in hospital in stable condition.

Police say false information being spread online is hampering their investigation of the events leading up to the death of a 15-year-old Port Coquitlam girl. Amanda Todd took her own life last week after enduring years of Internet sexual exploitation and bullying by her peers. Sergeant Peter Thiessen says thousands of tips have come in after Todd's death, and the outpouring of support has been overwhelming. But he says some people are spreading lies and appear to be trying to use Todd's story to do harm or make a profit.

One of the most outspoken opponents of B.C. Conservative party leader John Cummins says she's officially been kicked out of the party. Allison Patton was president of the Surrey-White Rock Conservative constituent association. The party said it mailed letters of either expulsion or censure to 15 members who have criticized Cummins' leadership.
