The eastern trails of Peterson Creek Park are closed until further notice as Kamloops Fire and rescue crews continue to mop up a grass fire. The blaze started yesterday afternoon in a steep area of the park. Forestry crews helped Kamloops fire fighters get it contained by 7 o'clock last night with a crew keeping an eye on it overnight. Fire investigator Sheldon Guertin says the cause of the blaze has yet to be determined.

A stabbing has sent a 25 year old man from Pritchard to Royal Inland hospital with life threatening injuries. Kamloops RCMP Staff sergeant Grant Learned says the man was dropped off at hospital just after 1 am with stab wounds to his neck.
The driver of the vehicle that dropped him off is now in police custody.

It's been stretching on since early this morning, and there's no end in sight to a police standoff at an upscale Vancouver hotel. Negotiators are trying to convince a man in his 20's, who's brandishing a gun, to turn himself in. No shots have been fired and no one has been hurt.
