First Day of Angling Season

AnglingSeason1.jpgMatt Rainnie reached Laura Chapin, live from the Morell River bridge for the first day of "angling season". Almost 50 trucks and cars were parked beside the river, as the fishing enthusiasts lined up, each trying to get their boats into the water. Besides the crowd, Laura explains some of the other challenges for the eager anglers.

Ferries Stuck - Coach Jill MacPhee

FerryStuckInIce (1).jpgAbout 800 people have spent the night aboard two Marine Atlantic ferries stuck in ice. The Highlanders and the Blue Puttees are in three-metre thick ice just a few kilometres off Cape Breton. The ships became stuck when the wind changed direction. A hockey team from PEI in onboardone of those ships. The Kings County Triple A midget girls team is on its way to Newfoundland for the Atlantic championship. Jill MacPhee is the coach of the team and joins un on the line.

School Closures - Cynthia Fleet

SchoolWeather.jpgAll schools are closed in PEI for the fourth day in a row. Between last week's 53 centimetres of snow and today's freezing rain -- Mother Nature has conspired to keep kids out of class.

And this wouldn't have been a full week of school anyway. Friday is a professional development day. Parents are worried what all this missed class time means for students, and some teachers are starting to express concern how they'll fit in all they need to teach.

Cynthia Fleet, superintendant of PEI's English Language School Board, joined us live.
