Residents Warned - Coyotes In The Park

Posted by Bill van Asperen

CoyotesSummersidePark.jpgSummerside is warning residents to stay clear of Rotary Park until it is clear of a coyote. Recently there has been a number of coyotes showing up in Island farm fields and near tree lines. However, they seem to be getting bolder, venturing into populated areas too. Just ask people like Albert Stairs of Summerside. His property borders on Rotary Park. It's just been shut down to allow the province to put the run to the coyote. Stairs talked with Federico Cahis. With more on the city's response to the coyote situation Federico also spoke with Bob Ashley with the City of Summerside.

SSYMCAclosing.jpgParents with children at the Summerside YMCA daycare were notified that the daycare will close December 20th. YMCA officials say the decision has been made because of low enrollment. The facility is designed to accommodate 50 children, but only 25 are enrolled. The CBC's Robyn Miller spoke to parents yesterday as they picked up their kids.  Gaylene Reis and her boyfriend have 5 children there - four in after-school care and one who's there all day. Twelve staff work there.
