Kissing Cows - Liz Turner

Liz Turner is heading into her 3rd year at the Atlantic Veterinary College. A photo she took of two "kissing calves" has won her a trip to San Andres Island in Colombia this summer for a spay/neuter project.  San Andres Island is in the Caribbean Sea, 750 kilometers north of mainland Columbia, just off the eastern coast of Nicaragua.

Mink Stink Concerns Cape Wolfe Resident

IslandMorning2013.jpgA mink farm with 10,000 mink will soon be the newest neighbors in Cape Wolfe, and that has one West Prince resident already holding her nose in case there's a stink. Jennifer Blanchard-Guitare is a concerned Cape Wolfe resident, and has environmental concerns over the Silver Hill Fur Farm moving into the neighborhood. Silver Hill Fur Farm is owned by Casey Gavin, who did not return our calls. Island Morning's Lindsay Carroll reached provincial environmental assessment officer, Jay Carr.

Island grown hazelnuts

This holiday season no need to buy'out-of-province' hazelnuts. After five years Bill and Elizabeth Glen have a commercial crop they grew at their farm in Bonshaw. Julia Cook visited to orchard to find out more.
