Celebration Zone Versus Old Home Week

Organizers of Old Home Week say they can't compete with free concerts from the likes of Matthew Good, Matt Anderson and Buffy Sainte-Marie. They worry 2014 celebrations will put a big hurt on their bottom line. But from the Tourism Minister's point-of-view it sounds like he's doing Old Home Week a favour booking free concerts while the celebration is on.

Angela Walker spoke with the general manager of Old Home Week, Rayanne Frizzell. Tourism Minister Robert Henderson was speaking with our legislative reporter Kerry Campbell.

The PEI Junior Honour Choir

PEIJuniorHonourChoir.jpgThe PEI Honours choir will be performing this weekend. The audience will be in for a treat when 134 voices from 19 elementary schools hit the stage at Park Royal Church. Meaghan Harris teaches music at Parkdale Elementary.

Whitney Rose - Country Girl

Charlottetown country singer Whitney Rose has been playing in venues across the country over the past few years and getting to know Canada from coast to coast.  Whitney played at last summer's giant Cavendish Beach Music Festival - and she's back home on PEI, performing at a sold-out show at the Trailside in Mt Stewart. We spoke with Whitney Rose by phone.
