Refugee Students - Joanne MacNevin
There are about 90 refugee students in schools across Prince Edward Island. They come here with a unique set of challenges. Some have never stepped foot in a classroom before ... others have been torn from loved ones, homes, and countries. All of these children need specialized help from their teachers here. A recent study shows teachers at the intermediate and high school level on PEI don't feel they have enough training to adequately work with refugee students. Joanne MacNevin's findings are published in the most recent edition of the Canadian Journal of Education.
