Puppets with a Purpose
Label jars, not people. It's a simple anti-bullying message, brought to Island students, by puppets.
They're not just any puppets...they're Around the Block puppets. Islanders with disabilities are trained in the art of puppetry...and then the troupe performs a play at schools across the Island about acceptance, and anti-bullying. The program also includes a job placement and life skills training. Scott Parsons organizes Around the Block. The CBC's Lindsay Carroll was at the play, and spoke with the puppeteers.
