2011 Island Morning Christmas Elf Contest

mattmitchelf.jpgCongratulations to our first ever winner of the Island Morning Christmas Elf Contest.

Here is the winning nomination from Kathy Mutch: I would like to nominate Dr Ed Harrison for Christmas Elf.  Ed is a physiatrist at the QEH who has taken his passion and caring for persons with disabilities to Kenya.  He is currently working through the Mikinduri Children of Hope and Kenyan partners to establish a Rehabilitation clinic with staff and equipment in a rural community in Central Kenya that has a high incidence of persons with disabilities.  The community wishes to have the support reach into areas with more difficulty access to services, and so as the program becomes established, outreach through a Community based approach will be developed.

Dr. Ed Harrison receives a prize of $100 to the charity of the winner's choice -- and a $100 dollar restaurant gift certificate.

Thanks to everyone for the amazing nominations and all the wonderful work you do in our communities.
