Job Ratio on PEI - 20:1

EmploymentPEI.jpgOn the hunt for a job? Stats Can says there was a 20 to one ratio in December between the number of Islanders looking for work, and the number of jobs available for them. The agency calls that the tightest job market in the country. But that's not how PEI's Minister of Innovation Allen Roach, sees it. Kerry Campbell also spoke to George Gia, an economist at UPEI.

EI Changes Update

The number of people receiving regular EI benefits on P.E.I dropped by 15 per cent over the past year. CUPE says the EI changes are to blame and they're creating hardship for many Island households. Kerry Campbell looks at the numbers and what they mean for workers.

Jane Ledwell - Public Sector Pension Changes

JaneLedwellWesSheridan.jpgThe provincial government has come under fire for its recent reform to the public sector employees' pensions. The changes include using a career average to calculate pensions, taking away guaranteed cost of living increases and increasing the age needed to qualify for a full pension. All to prevent a pension shortfall. But these changes may have a larger affect... on women. Here to tell us why is Jane Ledwell, with the PEI Council on the Status on Women.
