Liz Turner is heading into her 3rd year at the Atlantic Veterinary College. A photo she took of two "kissing calves" has won her a trip to San Andres Island in Colombia this summer for a spay/neuter project.  San Andres Island is in the Caribbean Sea, 750 kilometers north of mainland Columbia, just off the eastern coast of Nicaragua.

AVC offers to help injured PEI goose

Posted by Bill van Asperen

IslandMorning2013.jpgLast week we told you about an injured goose in the Wellington area. Art Arsenault says the goose's wing is injured, and her mate has been protecting her. The birds are hanging around a pond in Wellington, and have attracted local attention. The Atlantic Veterinary College says they are willing to take a look at the injured goose, but someone would have to catch it and bring it in.

Canadian Geese are migratory birds, and protected by the federal government. Martin Raillard is with the Canadian Wildlife Service, part of Environment Canada. Lindsay Carroll spoke with him about what can be done to help the bird.
