Philip Glass

Philip Glass has lived in Cape Breton for the summer for more than 40 years, but last Friday night, he played his first ever concert on the Island.  Philip Glass is regarded as  the most influential composer of our generation.  He has received three academy Award Nominations for the work he has done in film, his work has been staged  on every continent in  the world.

And on Friday night, he himself performed, in front of an audience of about 40 people,  for the first time ever in Cape Breton at the Normaway Inn in Margaree.

This was a concert fiddler Ashley MacIsaac arranged as a fundraiser for a group that wants to do more research into the Gulf of St Lawrence.

After the concert...we had a chance to speak with Mr Glass.
